End of Year Roundup - My Favorite Looks from 2014

It's a last week of the year and I wanted to gather all of my favorite looks from 2014. I was going to make this a very sentimental end of the year write up, but my blogversary is next month and I plan to do something special for you guys.

So until then, this is a complete wrap up of the year 2014 of looks for me. I didn't notice how much I wear black, white, green, and pink until now. Especially black and green together lol. Seeing all of my looks come together makes me want to grab other colors, prints, and textures moving forward. So I am happy my last look of the year is in red lol.

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas Fashionistas! I hope you find some time to out of your day to put the phone down and enjoy your family and friends.

Back in the day, my mom would put her five disk CD changer in rotate throughout the day for the Holidays or whenever she deep cleaned the house on Sundays lol. Dancing in the living room, running around with my cousins, while watching my family do many champagne and brandy toast in the kitchen.

So to continue that tradition, I put together a playlist of old school favorites and a few new hits. This isn't your traditional Christmas playlist, there are songs on here that will take you way back. Also some EXPLICIT LYRICS. Hope you enjoy...

Merry Christmas and Drive Safely!

A Coke and a Smile - My Holiday Look

Hi all! Christmas around the corner and I wanted to do a non-traditional holiday look. Well, even though red is a traditional color, you usually see a lot of sequins and dark colors. I wanted to create a cool and breezy look, that will make people talk. Also this is the last of my thrifting haul finds from a few months back.

With the new year I want to add more art and culture to the blog, which is another love of mine. So moving forward you will see a lot more of the arts, that I am hoping to find throughout the city.

I found this painting on the side of a building and it just reminded me of my hometown Chicago. The artist name is Hugo, was born in Bolivia and raised in New York. He came to Arizona to get his Masters and has many other amazing paintings and sculptures that you can find at hugosart.com.

Having a lot more fun in photos to end the year with a bang and hopefully shed more light on my personality.

Fedora and Wool Hat Trend

Happy Wednesday, hope your week is going great. Today lets touch on another trend to keep around in the next year. Fedoras and Wool hats! I know this trend has been around in the past few years, but I am seeing it more and more everyday.

Many different styles, color, and shapes have been seen on socialites and celebrities.

I have worn my wool hat many times this year, one of my favorite times here.

Cream of the Crop

It's Monday and I wish it was still the weekend. I just want to lay around another week or two before the New Year sends me back running around like a mad man. Anyway the look I am wearing today feels like another Kanye meets Solange to me.

I haven't worn my cream trench since last winter and I knew I wanted to wear it with all white this time around. I've been really into wide legged trousers lately. They're classy, fun, and make me look taller.

Christmas Wish List

Happy Friday! Today I woke up to a cool feature on another bloggers site www.unregisteredstyle.com. The blog is by Bryce Lennon and he also discusses fashion, style, and gives advice. He wrote a lot of kind words, that just made my day, so check out the feature and his site by clicking on the link above.

Now back to business, I finally put together my Christmas wish list. I wasn't going to create a list at all because I couldn't think of anything that I wanted and I feel like I have everything I need. So I started looking around and ended up with a lot of things lol.

It may look a bit boring, but again I am very simple. I ended up with four categories, style, accessories, beauty, and shoes.

Yay or Nay - Sock with Heels Trend

Another year another trend. Let's continue discussing the trends that we saw in 2014 and if we want to see them in the new year. So the sock with heels trend has been awhile for a long time now, but usually connected to the preppy girl look. Now this trend has been seen around on runway models, editors, and bloggers around the globe. Don't forget Carrie Bradshaw.

They are pairing them with skirts, shorts, jackets, and pants. I personally am not fully convinced of this trend because it can be a hit or miss. Pair the wrong kind of sock, heel, and outfit, it can start to look a bit crazy.

If I had to wear them, this look would be my favorite. The toned down color combination is perfect for this look.

Wizard of Thrifting

Happy Monday!

I've been in and out of thrift stores lately for the cooler weather items that I won't have much use for soon. I seem to always strike gold and this blazer was a something I was back and forth with. The pictures doesn't do this blazer justice. There are a lot of colors weaved in it, including a metallic thread. Also it is tweed and only $4, how could I leave it?

90's Era Trends to Keep in 2015

With the New Year approaching, I wanted to go over a few trends from 2014 that I would either hate to see go or love to stay. So the next few weeks I will touch on a few trends from the previous year. As a 80's baby, I wanted to touch on my favorite trend that just keeps sticking around...the 90's! Although I was born in the late 80's, I grew up and fell in love with fashion from the 90's.

So I am not sure if I am bias with the 90's trend or if they are actually dope, but this is a list of trends I would love to stay around. Lets get into a personal favorite...

Grunge Tie Waist:

Ok, I know this trend is being abused this year, but I am still not tired of it. I am not sure why, but I think I like how it can pull together a look easily, just by adding a jacket or shirt around the waist.

I recently wore this look in a grey and black combination.

Winter Florals and Mixed Prints

Hi there! I hope everyone enjoyed there Holiday over the weekend. Eating, sleeping, eating, and more eating was basically how I spent my weekend. I am over the Thanksgiving leftovers so much, that I had a nightmare that they would be serving us Thanksgiving food for lunch at work today lol.

Anyway lets start this week off with a look that I was a bit skeptical about posting. I am trying to take a bit more risks and play around with prints and textures. I have owned this bomber jacket since last winter and just not wearing it for the blog. This is also the skirt I purchased thrifting that came with the jacket I wore here.

Fur Clutch Trend

With winter season approaching, I wanted to touch on this cool trend, Faux Fur handbags! I for one love quikry looks and the fur bags are just my type!

Love!

Quick Thanksgiving Ready Looks

Happy Wednesday everyone! Yesterday I did not post anything, out of respect of the Mike Brown situation and current riots/protest. History is being made in front of our eyes and I wanted to focus on that. So I will stop there and not bring politics into the blog. I think that sometimes we get caught up in other things and we need to get serious when it calls for it.

Anyway, with Thanksgiving being tomorrow, I am not sure if you guys have thought about what to wear. We are either cooking, prepping, working, shopping, etc, and I wanted to put together some easy breezy quick looks, that you possibly already have at home. All of the looks I would wear myself, rather if it is a family dinner or a friendly gathering. Lets take a look...

 Casual Chic:
For the non tradition in us...

Listen if I didn't have family that forced me into these every year things, I would wear the hell out of this look. Meeting with friends, who also could care less, for drinks at the bar. If you are that person I envy you and you go girl!

Heeled Oxfords x Fur x Fall

Heeeey...hoooo...heeeey...hooo *waves hands in the air* LOL So I am really happy for a Monday. I am not exactly sure why, but I think the short work week and visions of Thanksgiving food has something to do with it. I wasn't going to post much this week because of the Holiday, but that is when I personally catch up on blogs I follow and entertainment. So I will just update this blog as much as I can this week, giving you something to look at, while you wait for your food.

Anyway, being that it is Thanksgiving week, I decided to show off more of a fall ready look.

Sequin Holiday Wish List

The Holidays are around the corner and I can actually buy sequins without having to hunt for it. They are everywhere during the Holidays and I buy them just to stock for the rest of the year. Over dressing for me is a norm, so I love to grab a sequin item for any occasion. I am not sure what I love more, polka dots or sequins.

You must to be cautious buying
sequins because they can either look luxurious or cheap. You can't really skip out on spending at times, when it comes to certain pieces. I think sticking to seldom colors or matte colors is the key to picking out the perfect sequin look.

Let's take a look at my current Holiday Sequin Wish List...

My favorite piece is this rose gold boxy top, you can wear it so many ways and the color is amazing!

D.I.Y. Embellished and Fun Beanies Inspiration

The temperatures are dropping drastically and I stumbled upon a few cute beanies for the season. Eventhough it is not snowing here in Arizona, it can get a bit chilly. While looking for cute beanies, I found out that they are very over priced.

Not just because I only need them for a few months, overpriced, but why are they $100 and up overpriced. I even saw a few for $300! Now some of the beanies below are in a high price range, but I wanted to give you some inspiration to try to make a few at home.

With the Holidays approaching and time off work, this is a cool project to do with friends, family, and kids. Lets look at a few of my favorite that you can possibly try at home.

Nasty Gal to Open First Store

Yay! Nasty Gal is opening its first store in Los Angeles, California on November 21st! This is Amazing and I cannot wait to see what the store will carry. First let me apologize for the lack of content on the site this week, I lost my laptop charger and the app for Blogger is not my best friend. Next week things will be back in motion for me. Can't wait to share some cool things I have found for us.

Anyway, if you are not familiar with Nasty Gal, it is an online woman's clothing site. The online store is based out of California and known for the 90's gal meets retro hip and quirky. They have everything from dresses, retro tees, faux furs, heels, and more. I personally love their shop for my fun and quirky side of fashion.

I live and breathe for this coat!

Blazer Dress x Thrifting

So recently I have been hitting up thrift stores to see what I can find. I have been a few times before, here and there, but never really put my all into it. Usually when I find things, I have to get them altered, but I have to get most things altered regardless.

I decided to hit up a few to see what I could find and scored a few gems. I went to My sisters closet, goodwill, and a local thrift store. I personally chose to go to the thrift stores in retirement communities to find the blazers, glitz, and glamor. For more trendy finds, I hit up shops in popular young communities or near fashion markets. In the next few weeks I will be wearing my findings.

Lets start off with my personal favorite...a navy blue military blazer/jacket.

I found this blazer in Goodwill for $7! I actually left it in the store when I first spotted it because the sleeves were a bit short for my taste. But I kept thinking about it throughout the day and decided to go back to purchase it. A great decision.

Seven Holiday Shopping Tips

Do you really need it? I have a rule that I always follow when I am out shopping. If you can't think of three ways to wear it, then leave it! Any item that I choose to wear, except for special occasions, I think of three ways to wear it on the spot. Rather if it is casual, business casual, or dressy. This will prevent you from being a compulsive shopper.

Do you have anything similar? If it isn't basic essentials, such as jeans or t-shirts, then you may not need it. If you already have five black blazers, then leave the sixth. I don't care if the pockets have a leather trim on it. The last thing you need is to clutter your closet with more items you already own.

Black Polka Dots

Happy Monday! So back on track this week with a new look. I am super excited that the weather finally permits for me to capture my fall looks for the blog. This was my first time having to deal with the heat and pics, so next time I will be prepared. Anyway I pieced together a look that I didn't know existed in my closet. All of the pieces I am wearing, besides the purse, are older items that I have owned for awhile.

This look fits my personality. I wish I could wear it everyday. My love for polka dots, black, and leather!

To break up the look, I paired it with a light blazer from Cotton On. The studs on the blazer fit perfectly.

Back to schedule next week, until then here are a few Halloween celebrity costumes.

Tomboy, Boots, and Leather

So I came across these cute boots on a online site, that I should probably frequent more often. I have been looking at lace up thigh high boots ever since I saw Tom Ford's designs, but without going broke. Tom Ford's designs and a few replicas are priced from $1200 - $300. Although $300 is a decent price for boots, I get a little skeptical spending that amount on a brand I am not familiar with. I also have to consider how often I can wear them while living in Arizona.

The boots were only $50! I wanted to wear them right away, but wasn't sure if I should wear a blazer or which blazer to wear. So I wore them all to let you decide.

Fashionable Halloween Clothing & Accessories with Asos

Halloween is next week, which means parties, cocktail hours, and festivals. I don't know about you, but I don't have much time and actually a bit too lazy to go all out on a costume this year. Halloween is another favorite holiday for me because it brings out the creativity in people. So if you don't have the time to get creative, yet you don't want to show up in the same $20 costume as everyone else, I suggest going cute, fashionable, and unique.

I am currently looking to add cute accessories to clothing that I already have. I stumbled upon my favorite online shopping site and they have tons of options. Hats, clutches, crowns, and dresses, that you can wear more than once a year.

Lets start with my favorite piece, this amazing hat and veil...

Veils:

How simple? Veils have been a trend for everyday looks since it first made it's debut on the runways a few seasons ago. This is also a look you can create at home by adding ribbon and veil tulle to a hat.

I am obsessed!
