Cali Part dos - Beach and Zara

I am finally getting back to normal life activities and now featuring the second part of my California trip. I was headed to the day after Birthday brunch and was only able to spend a small time frame at the beach. You can't go to California without going to the beach, even if it is in heels.

Cali Part Uno - Fringe

Have you ever went out of town and needed a vacation from a vacation? That is what I am needing right now. I was invited to California for a very special friend of mines birthday extravaganza. I only intended to stay one day; however the party lasted two fabulous days and now I am catching up with normal living activities. I know I said I would post about the Grammy's red carpet, but I think we all know Beyonce was the highlight and that is all.

I had such a wonderful time in California and took so many pics, that I now have to separate my journey in sections. I literally picked out my cocktail party dress a few hours before the event, lets see how I did..

Arizona Fall

As I mentioned in my very first post, Arizona does have a winter...sort of. Our winter season is compared to the Fall Season. It is hard to give up my mid-western layering ways, even after several years. As I try to hold on to the last few days of a desert chill, I still have to remind myself that most of my readers are still dealing with snow. I will cherish these moments before the Sun decides to move in my neighborhood and melt away all things in its path.

Obsession of the week: Statement Pieces

My inspiration for this feature today is coming from the lovely Lupita Nyong'o Sag award look. If you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, then you wouldn't know that Lupita is known for her role in the movie 12 Years a Slave. I can go on for days, but right now lets submerge ourselves in this AMAZING Gucci "statement" dress...

Can you spot the difference?

Today's post features two similar pairs of heels that feature a unique honeycomb look, while combining the gladiator trend. One of the pairs retail value is priced at $1,260 and the other at $119.

Can you tell which one is the splurge and which one is the steal?

Obsession of the Week!

This week in my style obsession of the week is featuring the black and white trend. A black and white trend is one of my favorites that I think will never go out of style. It is a must have classic look for anyone at any age. My favorite part of the trend is being able to mix and match patterns, along with adding playful colors. When I wear a black and white look, I try to stay playful as much as possible to avoid the "dull" look.

Lets look at a few pieces I styled together...

Black, White, and Red all over?

Since this is my first post, I will admit I didn't think this one through. I threw on something I would normally wear to work or a dinner date and took pics for testing purposes. I ended up liking the pics and history was made. No one goes to the first pic of a blog anyway...right?

Risk season?

Award season is in full effect, which is great news for our sequin, lace, and chiffon addiction. Or am I the only one with the addictions? Anyway, another reason I love the award season is the fashion risks. I for one love taking risks, especially with my styling choices; however when there is a fine line between risk and WTF is that...

Lets start off by looking at my favorite risk choices at the 71st Golden Globes...

I must admit that I do not think this Prabal Gurung dress is Golden Globe appropriate; however how can you be mad at this art piece? This dress combined with the beauty of Zoe Saldana Risk Accepted!!

Obsession of the week!

Due to the below freezing temperatures across the states, I the need to post about fashionable warm trench coats. Although I live in Arizona, we do have our so called "winter" months that requires a light trench for the early mornings and late evenings. As a Midwestern, I know it can sometimes be a challenge to dress warm properly and still look chic. I can hear my grandmother now telling me "Cute isn't warm". Below are a few of my favorite trench looks to prove my grandmother wrong.

Spring/Winter Trench
Topshop coat, $155 / Burberry cashmere coat / Orla Kiely wool coat, $385 / Orla Kiely wool coat, $540 / L K Bennett trench coat, $535
